Fun Facts:
-The water is sometimes described as pine needle tea. It gets it’s brownish color from the pine needles that fall into the lake.
-Coastal dune lakes are only found in Madagascar, Australia, New Zealand, Oregon and here in Walton County, Florida!
-Eastern Lake is fairly shallow – usually only 4 - 5 feet deep at its deepest point
*If you’re lucky, you might get to see Eastern Lake connect with the Gulf. Depending on weather conditions, sometimes water flows into Eastern Lake from the Gulf or spills out of Eastern Lake into the Gulf. It’s an amazing site!

Once on the sand, guests can reach the Walton Dunes public beach area with a scenic walk of about 200 yards along the Emerald Coast shoreline.

A seasonal Beach Trolley runs mid March through mid October from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing convenient access to nearby beach entry points.

Guests also enjoy access to over 1,200 feet of coastline and more than 10 acres of beach areas connected by walking paths and boardwalks.

The Eastern Lake Port Property Public Beach is just a 3-4 minute walk and is also serviced via the private Beach Trolley. The Beach Trolley also shuttles to/from Walton Dunes Public Beach, where beach chairs can be rented. The Sugar Dunes Boardwalk immediately adjacent to Beachside Villas can be used to access the beach as well, where just 350 feet to the right of the boardwalk is 500 feet of owner managed beach that can be used from 9-4pm. Finally, every inch of Walton County coastline is 100% public for activities such as walking, jogging, swimming, skim boarding, surfing. The Beach Trolley runs from 9-5pm, from March 15* to September 15th.
